The Research Center
of Environment and Biotechnology (RCEB), the key lab of
Heilongjiang Province in China, was founded by Dr. Nanqi
REN in June 1996. The RCEB focuses on studies of wastewater
treatment process, environmental science aspects and biotechnology.
The RCEB is aimed to transfer promising technologies out
of the laboratory and put them into the market to make
more benefit along with fundamental research in environmental
subjects.
In the recent years, the RCEB team deeply studied on
many unresolved investigational and application problems
in environmental fields. Principle investigations are
mainly focused on: novel advanced wastewater treatment
principle, fermentation engineering, physiological ecology
and molecular ecology of microorganisms, etc. Applied
studies including: technology of biohydrogen production
from carbohydrate wastewater, advanced wastewater Biological
Sulfate Removal (BSR) technology, development and application
of compound microbial flocculants (MBF), advanced drinking
water purification technology with combination of ozone
(O3) and immobilized biologically activated carbon (BAC),
biological nutrient removal, mechanism and implementation
of high effective membrane bioreactor (MBR) and its automated
control, and so on. Our studies have been widely sponsored
by the local and central governments. At present, total
research foundation is more than 15,000,000 RMB. Since
2000, we published more than 200 papers, and applied for
over 10 invention patents.
